The Story of the Bodhisatva of Compassion – The Bodhisatva Page

The Bodhisattva of Compassion

The Bodhisattva is the enlightened being who has sworn not to leave this world.

Buddhism teaches that if you sit and quiet your mind and see through the illusion of this world you will become aware of your true nature. Then you will be an enlightened being and you can leave this world with its cycle of constant birth and death and rebirth where people live out their karma.

The Bodhisattva refuses to leave.

The vow of the Bodhisattva:

“I will not leave this world until the last sentient being has seen through the illusion and become aware.”
