Man: So multi-level marketing…
Woman: That is right.
Man: So what exactly is that?
Woman: Oh just. You can go into the website. There are just thousands. It is like I introduce two people. Two people introduce two people. And so there are tiers to this marketing.
Man: Like Amway?
Woman: Network marketing or multi-level marketing. Yeah.
Man: Tupperware and Amway. Are they examples?
Woman: They are good examples. Yeah. They are in the same category.
Man: How did you get involved in it?
Woman: A very good friend of ours introduced us to it when my husband and I came to the Gold Coast.
Man: M-hm.
Woman: We were approached by this couple who became friends and we were introduced by friends, which is the deceptive element in multi-level marketing because very often they recruit friends and because they are your friends you naturally assume…
Man: That they are ok.
Woman: Yeah… have your interests at heart. Unbeknowns to us our friends although they are good business people they themselves were quite inexperienced in this particular business so they actually without meaning to misled us.
Man: Right. Ok. And what product initially..?
Woman: Well this company is called Omega trend and it is a sort of a replica of Amway.
Man: Right.
Woman: And so they started with cleaning products and…
Man: They broke away from Amway?
Woman: Yeah. They actually are a breakaway from Amway though they didn’t like people to know that because of Amway’s rep.
Man: Amway has a bad rep?
Woman: Incredibly bad rep so that Amway had to change its name that many times to disguise its…
Man: Past.
Woman: Yeah past or…
Man: I thought Amway like…I have that heard it is expensive but the products are quite good.
Woman: Actually that is what most people say and I think there is something to be said for quality. I think it is quite good quality but the fact is there is a high profit margin so I think it is inherently unethical and they pump up the price and they have to because the different tiers of people have to make their profit along the way, to me, for me, I think it is unethical.
Man: And you felt you got burned? You felt like deceived. You weren’t happy with your experience?
Woman: I felt, yeah….

John: Are you going to have enough money?
Miyako: Money is a problem but I’m going to be able to work. I’m going to be able to get a working holiday visa and I’m going to be able to work legally.
John: Wonderful! Excellent! Great! What a great adventure!

Mark: Ok, so I have got my newspaper. I am going to sit down and read the newspaper. I have to find a park. There is a lot of traffic here. There are lots of cars. There is a park over there in front of the city office. I will go and sit there and read my newspaper….OK….Very interesting. Very interesting…Hello!
A Woman in the Park: Hello.
Mark: How are you?
The Woman in the Park: Oh very well thank you.
Mark: Lovely weather.
The Woman in the Park: Oh it is beautiful… What are you doing?
Mark: Just reading the paper. Just relaxing. I am new in town.
The Woman in the Park: Oh wonderful!
Mark: You live here?
The Woman in the Park: Yes, I live just round the corner.
Mark: I have just come from Japan.
The Woman in the Park: Oh Japan!
Mark: I have just moved here.
The Woman in the Park: Very interesting.
Mark: Have you been to Japan?
The Woman in the Park in Front of the City Office: Never. I know very little about it.
Mark: It is a very interesting place.
The Woman in the Park: Sumo wrestling.
Mark: Sumo wrestling. Sushi.
The Woman: Oh yes. Sushi.
Mark: Have you ever eaten sushi?
The Woman in the Park: Well, actually there is a sushi bar here.
Mark: Oh really. Have you tried it?
The Woman in the Park: Yeah I try it regularly.
Mark: Right.
The Woman in the Park: It is not a “Kaiten Sushi“, though. It is just an ordinary very small sushi bar.
Mark: I don’t eat a lot of sushi actually. I like vegetables.
The Woman in the Park: Oh vegetables. We have plenty of those. You might have found out about that.
Mark: Yeah yeah. I have seen there is a lot of fresh fruit too. It is good. It is lovely. This is a lovely place. What do you do?
The Woman: Well, I am a farmer.
Mark: Oh.
The Woman: A farmer’s wife, excuse me.
Mark: Right. OK. And you are at the City office today…You have come in to do some business?
The Woman: Well, Mosquito City isn’t that big.
Mark: Right.
The Woman: So I like to stroll around, you know, interesting atmosphere.
Mark: Right. OK.
The Woman: I know a lot of people here.
Mark: Right OK. That is a lovely duck you have there too. Is that your duck?
The Woman: Yes, that is my duck.
Mark: Right OK.
The Duck: Quack quack.
Mark: Right. OK. Oh well. I think I will go for a stroll.
Australian Bloke: Speed. Co…?
London Bloke: I will put it this way. To me non-Class A drugs are drugs that can be cultivated without any …modern farming techniques … or chemical interference… for example… non-Class A drugs: marijuana, even opium. Yeah? Class A drugs: heroin, cocaine, crack, ice, MDMA: ecstasy, ketamine. That to me is class A drugs.
Australian Bloke: What have they all got in common?
London Bloke: They all eat Mr Jack(?)
